The Somatic Stories Project

The Somatic Stories Project empowers Black women and femmes who have survived complex trauma to engage in healing through narrative and photography. Through this work, participants will make positive, affirming shifts in self-perception. I hope folks who view this project will be inspired to heal ourselves and each other through accessible and culturally-affirming healing modalities.

Somatic Stories Project Timeline

Phase 1 (2019): I interviewed and photographed three individuals bravely navigating their healing journeys.

Phase 2 (2020): I installed immersive wellness exhibitions at the Black Arts Liberation Movement (BALM) and Vox Populi art galleries in Philadelphia, PA. The community engaged with the art, received mental health resources, and participated in psychosomatic workshops led by Tien Sydnor-Campbell, MS.

Phase 3 (2024): Launched the somatic stories webpage. Preparing for a second set of interviews.
